Mark Buchanan is an award winning author, popular conference and retreat speaker and Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at Ambrose University in Calgary. Prior to joining staff at Ambrose, Mark pastored for 24 years: 6 years in Vernon, BC and 18 years in Duncan, on Vancouver Island.

Mark holds a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Vancouver’s Regent College.
Mark is passionate about the local church and enjoys his current role of equipping the next generation of pastors and leaders.

He has written seven best-selling books including: Your God is Too Safe, The Holy Wild, The Rest of God, Hidden In Plain Sight and Your Church is Too Safe. He is currently working on his eighth book and his first novel entitled: David: A Novel.

He also writes a regular column for Leadership Journal and Seven Magazine and contributes to, Christianity Today (Contributing Editor), Christian Week, Focus on the Family magazine, In Touch magazine, Faith Today, Books & Culture, Conversations, Crux, and other periodicals.

Mark lives in Calgary with his wife, Cheryl. They have 3 grown children. He reads widely and enjoys fishing, scuba diving and motorcycles.
